You will start the knitting of this beautiful shrug at the shoulders and you’ll be working flat down the length of the back. Once you’ve blocked this, you’ll sew up the diagonals, then add ribbing and sleeves. If you’d prefer, there are instructions for wee cuffs instead of long sleeves. The lace work is nothing terribly difficult, but you do need to keep track of your rows to avoid confusion.

Supplies:

– 220-300g Maniototo Luxury Lambswool fingering weight yarn (approx 360m/395yd per 100g) * 

If using a different yarn, make sure that your gauge matches as this is a reasonably heavy 

4ply/fingering yarn. 

– 3.25mm (US 3) circular knitting needle 

– 3.5mm (US 4) circular knitting needle, or needles that will allow you to achieve the correct gauge 

– optional stitch markers 

– darning needle 

* The sample used approx 220g of Maniototo Luxury Lambswool, Sage colourway and is the smallest size.

Gauge:

Lace panel: 10 sts x 16 rows = 4.5 x 4.5cm (1.75 x 1.75in), blocked and rested. 

Sleeves: 25 sts x 36 rows = 10 x 10cm (4 x 4in), blocked and rested.

Finished sizes:

To fit wingspan (elbow to elbow with arms outstretched) of 86cm, 90cm, 99cm, 103cm, then there are six sleeve sizes too. This one is a little different to standard sizing options, and it’s explained in detail within the pattern.
